Squad Evaluations: England Victory Secured by Kane's Brace in International Qualifier
In a dominant showing, the English national team secured one more victory against their opponents, with a number of players turning in memorable displays during the match.
First-choice Lineup
The goalkeeper Not a save to perform in the first half until called into action from an opponent's bent shot. One well-timed sliding challenge against Qazim Laci demonstrated his reading of the game. Six out of ten
The debutant Challenged against Albania’s main danger through Hoxha. Operated more centrally initially later drifted out wide after Saka came on. 7/10
John Stones Moved forward with the ball at his feet, a familiar role in the past. On occasion was too casual in possession with the experiment discontinued by the interval. 6
The tall defender Always dangerous at set pieces, as always, perhaps is an alternative for his teammate in the backline rather than paired with him. One wayward distribution in the second half came close to a goal from Albania. 6
The young full-back Another confident showing by the 20-year-old after his initial appearance versus another side. Saka failed to make the most of an exquisite flick over their defense. His position is his to lose at this stage. Seven
Adam Wharton His maiden beginning in an England shirt. Somewhat careless when playing out but his inswinging set-pieces caused problems. An effective game manager available to the boss to call upon against sides that sit back. Shown a yellow for a rash challenge. Six
Declan Rice Deliveries on corner kicks and free-kicks were dangerous. Was given room to move down the left flank but was offside upon receiving in shooting positions. Given a merited rest on the hour mark. 6
Jude Bellingham Played in an advanced position out wide and also contributed with dirty work. Displayed glimpses of brilliance and dragged an effort wide. Replaced in the closing stages by Rogers, a fellow player, after receiving a caution. Seven
The winger Had the team's clearest opportunity in the opening period, his shot excellently kept out from the Albanian keeper. With Quansah staying deep, he was forced to offer an outlet out wide although his balls into the box varied in quality. Substituted late in the match. 6
The captain The difference-maker scoring two more goals in an England shirt. The opener a classic poacher’s finish and the second a superb finish with his head having drifted away from his marker. At 32, he’s only getting better with the national team have every chance in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. 8/10
The attacker Had difficulty to make an impact from the left. Had a good opening when set up by the midfielder yet the keeper made the save. Rashford produced a bigger an impact after coming on. 5/10
Bench Players
- Foden (replacing Rice 63) Appeared sharp and combined seamlessly with Kane in a natural spot, 6/10
- Bukayo Saka (on for Eze 63) Failed to convert yet his delivery led to the opener, Six
- Rashford (replacing Bowen with 15 left) Energetic upon introduction and provided the second goal via an excellent ball to the back post, Seven
- Elliot Anderson (for Wharton in the 75th minute) Seems settled so soon, 6/10
- Morgan Rogers (replacing the star with minutes remaining) Too brief a spell to affect things, 6
